Upload an image to simulate different types and severities of color blindness, apply custom tints, and download the result.
How to Use the Colorblind Simulator
1. Upload an Image
- Locate the Upload an Image section at the top of the page.
- Click the Choose File button to open the file picker.
- Select an image from your device (accepted formats include JPG, PNG, etc.).
- Once uploaded, the image will appear on the canvas below.
2. Choose a Vision Filter
- Below the canvas, you’ll find the Select a Filter dropdown menu.
- Use this to simulate how the image looks to people with various types of vision:
- Normal Vision: Displays the image without any changes.
- Protanopia (Red-Weak): Simulates difficulty distinguishing reds.
- Deuteranopia (Green-Weak): Simulates difficulty distinguishing greens.
- Tritanopia (Blue-Weak): Simulates difficulty distinguishing blues.
- Achromatopsia (Total Color Blindness): Converts the image to grayscale to simulate total color blindness.
- Achromatomaly (Mild Total Color Deficiency): Applies a subtle version of total color deficiency.
- Grayscale: Converts the image into black-and-white shades.
- Sepia Tint: Applies a warm, brownish tint resembling old photographs.
3. Adjust the Image Settings
- Below the filter dropdown, sliders allow you to fine-tune the image. Each slider performs a specific adjustment:
- Brightness: Use this to make the image lighter or darker.
- Saturation: Enhance or reduce the intensity of colors.
- Contrast: Adjust the difference between light and dark areas of the image.
- Hue Rotation: Shift colors to different shades on the color wheel.
- Gamma: Fine-tune the brightness levels for more subtle adjustments.
- Slide the controls and observe the real-time changes directly on the canvas.
4. View the Updated Image
- As you select filters and adjust sliders, the image on the canvas updates instantly.
- Experiment with different filters and adjustments to better understand color blindness and enhance the visual appearance of your image.
5. Download the Edited Image
- Once you’re satisfied with the adjustments, you can save the modified image:
- Click the Download Filtered Image button located below the canvas.
- The image will be downloaded in PNG format with all your changes applied.
